Episode 2: Progress Update

Hey, so you can probably tell that I'm not great at frequent progress updates. I don't like the idea of saying "I'm still working on it" every week or whatever. I've posted a few things on twitter, but for the sake of people not there, here's what I've got so far.

Episode 2 is called Shauntal's Fantastical Realms of Wonderment, in which cute purple ghost girl will grace you with her DMing abilities in her own homebrew campaign, if you can convince her to stop being shy for a minute.

I have Rigaeru helping me with the art again, though unfortunately he can't make it his main priority, obviously, so these things take time.

Other than waiting on art, it's a slow process figuring out how I want to convey playing a tabletop game in a visual novel.

AI art has been really helpful with this though, generating this type of background is really easy and it lets me kinda go wild with whatever scenes I wanna show, rather than having to pay for a background of every location or whatever.

I've got a little branching dialogue system I made, and a map screen type thing that feels a little choose-your-own-adventure-y. Still not sure how it'll all come together in the end, but I'm happy with what I've done so far. The issue is again that it sure doesn't feel like I uploaded the last episode 5 months ago with how much work I've put into the current one, but oh well.

I'm currently wondering what I want to do for "combat" situations, cuz I don't really want to put in like an undertale style combat minigame or something like that, so it'll have to be somewhere between that and picking between text options like any other VN. Other than that, it's just a matter of these things taking time. I tend to figure things out as they come up, but I'm thinking she'll let you decide between "classes" or something and she'll take you on a little adventure.

Think that's about it for now.
